Villa reject £25m for Amavi

THE RUMOUR

Aston Villa have rejected a £25 million bid for one of their finest assets, Jordan Amavi. Having bought the player from Nice in the summer of 2015 for about £9m, the 22 year old has been one of the best performers in a Villa side chasing a return to the Premier League.

The bid may have been made by Everton, who are closely linked with the left back, wanting competition for the ageing Leighton Baines. Koeman is said to have been an admirer of the player, and he would be the second Villa player he would have signed for the Toffees.

He missed most of last season, where Villa were relegated, with a knee injury in November 2015.

Other possible bidders include Liverpool and Marseille.

THE EVIDENCE

Aston Villa owner, Dr Tony Xia, made the claim on Twitter, responding to a claim that Villa had rejected a €10m bid from Marseille.

Everton have been linked with the player in the Liverpool Echo, the Birmingham Mail, and French journal, La Provence.
